How Do You Reset a Harley Davidson Key Fob?
If your Harley-Davidson key fob is no longer working, you must reset the security system. But you cannot reset the code if you do not have the key fob. In that case, you must get a new fob from your authorized Harley-Davidson dealership. But if you have your key fob, here’s how to reset it.
Turn Signal Security Module - TSSM
Harley-Davidson’s key fob for the TSSM security system is recognizable by its rubber button. Here are the steps for resetting the code when your Harley has this system:
- First, set the kill switch to the off position.
- Turn the ignition switch rapidly on and off and repeat twice, ending in the on position (5 actions).
- Quickly select the left turn signal switch - press and let it go twice (press, release, press, release).
- Press the fob button hard and release.
- You should now see the current PIN on the odometer.
- Press the left signal until you get the PIN code that you want.
- Press the fob button twice now, which will cycle to the next number. Repeat.
- Once you reach the 5-digit PIN that you want, press and release the right signal and turn the ignition switch off.
(Repeat steps 2 to 4 quickly, one after the other).
Arming and Disarming
Use these steps to arm and disarm your motorbike with a sample PIN of 25522:
- Select Accessories on the ignition switch.
- Press the turn signal switches simultaneously. The red key light on the speedometer will flash rapidly, which shows that you got this step right.
- Press and release the left turn signal twice.
- Press and release the right signal once.
- Press and release the left turn signal five times.
- Press and release the right signal once.
- Repeat this selection process for the last three PIN numbers – Lx5, Rx1, Lx2, Rx1, Lx2, Rx1).
- If performed successfully, the red-light flashes on the speedometer will stop, meaning the security system is disarmed.
(Repeat steps 2 to 7 quickly, one after the other).
Hands-Free Security Module - HFSM
Use these steps for the Hands-Free Security Module – HFSM. This key fob is solid plastic.
- Go to your motorbike with the key fob present.
- Select the off section of the kill switch.
- Rapidly turn the ignition on and off, on and off, ending with on.
- Follow this action quickly by pressing and releasing the left turn signal switch twice.
- Repeat for the right signal, but only press and release once.
- You will see the current PIN code on the odometer.
- Press the left signal to change the PIN code.
- Press the right turn signal switch to go to the next number. Repeat the previous step.
- Switch the ignition off when you have the 5-digit PIN code you want.
(Move quickly through steps 3 to 5).
Arming and Disarming
Follow the same process for the TSSM security system but start by turning on the ignition switch.
